2.3 RECONNECTIONS
The brief was to design a learning center to educate people in Neath town of Port Talbot that will give them better future ahead as education lacked and due to that factor young population was decreasing. My design is based on designing a factory like learning Centre, which will have a workshop to design pod-learning units that could be sent out, by all form of transportation. In order to accommodate learning center and a factory I needed everything under one roof. I designed a shell like structure where units are twisted at the points where there is more sun light needed for the factory and yet be strong enough to hang cranes from it. I wanted to avoid having a building ‘block’ but rather have a landscape that flows through the site and form into my shell structure.
2.2 FLOATING HOUSE
Floating house project is based on detail and construction techniques. We idea was to make the house float with incase of flooding as well as design in such way that it could be built with a single menu and builders are not needed for it.
2.1 PORTH TEIGER
Porth Teiger project involved master planning and we were given a site to develop our strategy for mixed used building. My Strategy was to take the site out into the water and let water come onto the site to create public space as the area lacked a central point. My building consists of retail and housing above which creates a smooth transition of public to private spaces from retail to private apartment to a workshop. The apartments were designed to suit artist that included workshops.
